Today - Sunday, July 5th 2009 - is the day that I finally leave Washington, D.C. and start the long journey 'down under' to Sydney, Australia.
My flight leaves Dulles International Airport at around 5pm on Sunday afternoon - but I won't arrive in Sydney until Tuesday morning!
By crossing the International Date Line, somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, I will basically be missing the whole of Monday. For me, Monday will not exist - I go from Sunday to Tuesday - with the small matter of about twenty hours of flying time to keep me occupied.
I'm so glad I have some good, long books to read...
